A proper chiropractic exam is vital in order to find the proper treatment for your specific condition. Prior to following our Four Phases of Care methodology, a thorough physical examination must be performed by the Greater Pittsburgh Joint & Muscle Center’s doctors and staff. Based on your answers of the health questionnaire and the findings of your physical examination, you may be requested to proceed with further exams in order to create the best treatment plan.
The human body has two adrenal glands, one above each kidney. The endocrine glands secrete hormones that assist the body in regulating a variety of processes. Measuring the levels of these adrenal hormones can often be the first step in identifying several disorders such as Addison’s disease and congenital adrenal hyperplasia. If these disorders are not identified and treated properly, the body may experience vomiting, profound muscle weakness, extremely low blood pressure, depression and chronic fatigue. Based on the results of your testing, a researched plan can be created to improve your specific condition.
Spinal Alignment Test
A subluxation occurs when a vertebrae (spinal bone) that is normally aligned, slips out of place and rests on the vertebrae directly below. This causes the nerves in the immediate area to become compressed, resulting in back pain. This problem can also lead to sciatica, neck pain and residual headaches. Certain spinal alignment issues can be genetic, such as scoliosis, while other forms may result from improper lifting techniques and movements or simply bad posture. Based on the findings from your chiropractic exam, your doctor may request a spinal alignment test.
Our bodies are literally bombarded with toxic chemicals on a daily basis. Some people can subject themselves to prolonged exposure to these toxins without ever being aware of the buildup that’s occurring in their bodies or even becoming visibly sick. Then others suffer from a wide variety of debilitating issues such as chronic headaches. Exposure to toxins can occur with regular contact of household chemicals such as drain cleaner, laundry detergent and motor oil. Natural occurring toxins include mercury, caffeine and chlorine gas, to name just a few. You may be asked to undergo a toxicity test in order to confirm or eliminate any of your specific symptoms. This test measures the levels of specific toxins in the body through saliva or urine analysis. The test is performed on site and the results are immediately available for analysis.
Greater Pittsburgh Joint & Muscle Center offers an in-house radiology department, used to perform x-rays in certain instances. X-rays are used to examine the back, neck and soft tissue, which can help diagnose the cause of pain, and detect the presence of fractures, arthritis or spondylolisthesis. Once all necessary exams have been completed and the results evaluated, we will put together a personalized treatment plan in accordance with our Four Phases of Care.
